Experiment E01    Electric Field Lines and Equipotential Lines

Objectives
  • Study the patterns of electric fields setting up by electrodes of various shapes
  • Study the patterns of equipotential lines setting up by electrodes of various shapes
Description
In this activity, you will study both electric field pattern and equipotential lines.

In Experiment 1, you will set up an electric field in a non-conducting oil using an EHT. Semolina powders are spread and allowed to align along the electric field lines.

In Experiment 2, you will set up an electric field in a conducting plate. Using a sensitive light beam galvanometer, you will be able to plot equipotential lines on the conducting plate.
