Experiment DL19    Input Characteristics of Diode And Transistor

Objectives
  • Study the variation of current with the applied voltage across a diode
  • Study the variation of current with the applied voltage across the input of a transistor
  • Show that the base-emitter junction of a transistor behaves like a diode
Description
In this activity, you will make use of the high resistance of Voltage Sensor to study the I-V characteristics of diode and the input (BE) of a transistor. You will simply use an a.c. to vary the voltage across the device.

In Experiment 1, you will study the characteristics of a diode. The diode is connected in series with the resistor across the a.c. Both the voltages across the diode and the resistor would be measured.

In Experiment 2, you will study the input characteristics of a transistor. Both the voltages across the B and E and the input resistor would be measured.
