Experiment A05    Mechanical Resonance


Objectives
  • Study the resonance phenomenon of three oscillators
  • Study the frequency of an oscillator under forced oscillation
  • Observe the phase relationship between the driver and the driven oscillators
Description
In this activity, you will study the behaviour of several driven oscillators during resonance.

In Experiment 1, you will cause a hacksaw blade to oscillate by magnetic force.

In Experiment 2, you will set up a Barton pendulum. It consists of several paper pendulum linked to a brass pendulum.

In Experiment 3, you will cause a hacksaw blade with a movable mass to oscillate by a massive pendulum.
